SUMITOMO DUNLOP RESUMES OPERATIONS AT LADYSMITH PLANT

Dear Colleagues, Partners and Stakeholders,

Whilst we all continue to live in these uncertain times, the Global coronavirus pandemic endures to affect people, businesses, communities and our general way of life. However, during this period, we need to remain calm, sensible and rational when dealing with all things COVID-19 related.

Following confirmation last week of four staff that entered Sumitomo Rubber SA (Sumitomo Dunlop), who tested positive with COVID-19, the company conscientiously decided to close operations for seven days. Sumitomo Dunlop has since been working closely with the Departments of Health and Labour who have been guiding and assisting the company in aid of enhancing the established health and safety protocols for all employees.

To that end, the plant will be resuming operations on Monday the 25th of May 2020.

Furthermore, Sumitomo Dunlop have subsequently made the diligent decision to have all employees tested for COVID-19 before operations resume at the Ladysmith Plant. No employee and service contractor will be allowed to enter and work on site unless there is proof of testing being performed with a negative result for the coronavirus.

Sumitomo Dunlop are also conducting compulsory training on site for all Sumitomo Dunlop employees, as well as our service contractors, who are required to perform their duties on our premises.

The health and safety of all remain paramount and we trust that a unified approach will enable both our country and companies to navigate through this pandemic.
